Dr. Nimrah Marquez
Principal
I was born and raised in Valencia County. Over the years, I have lived in Bosque Farms, Los Lunas, and Belen. I attended Los Lunas schools and, after graduating from high school, enrolled at UNM with the intention of pursuing a degree in the medical field. However, after two years, I realized the medical field wasn’t the right path for me, so I switched my major to education.
I spent 12 years teaching at Katherine Gallegos Elementary and Ann Parish Elementary. During this time, I completed my master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies through UTA. After leaving Ann Parish, I became an assistant principal at Sarracino Middle School in Socorro, later serving as the principal overseeing both the middle and elementary schools in Laguna, NM. In 2022, I was fortunate to return to Los Lunas Schools as a Learning Innovation Coach at Los Lunas High School. The following year, in May 2023, I earned my Ph.D. in education with a concentration in organizational leadership. I had the privilege of leading Los Lunas Middle School 2023-2025. I’m deeply honored and genuinely excited to serve as the principal of Los Lunas High School. It’s a privilege to be part of the community. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated students, staff, and families as we strive to empower every learner for success now and in the future.
Beyond my career in education, I have been teaching dance and Jazzercise at a local studio for the past 13 years. Through it all, my greatest joy has been raising two amazing humans, whom I will forever call my babies, even though they are now adults.
