The History of Los Lunas High School
Los Lunas High School was founded in 1926 as Solomon Luna High School and then later renamed Los Lunas High School. The original school was located on Main Street; its main building is still in use by the Los Lunas School District as a Special Services building.
Construction on the school where it now stands, on Emilio Lopez Rd., started in October of 1968; the first phase was completed by 1969 and housed the 11th and 12th grades. By 1970, the new Los Lunas High School was fully open.
LLHS would be remodeled again in 2012. The campus was torn down and rebuilt in two phases, with the first phase reopening for staff and students at the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year. The completed school was fully opened in the Spring of 2015.
