LLHS Parking Policy

LLHS Parking Policy

  • General Status: Los Lunas High School is a closed campus, and parking is a privilege, not a right.

  • Permit Requirements & Pickup:

    • Permits are free of charge and must be picked up in the SRO office.

    • Students must present a valid driver’s license, current proof of insurance, and current vehicle registration to receive a permit.

    • Documentation for the vehicle must be present at all times while operating the vehicle on campus.

    • Permits must be permanently attached to the inside lower left of the windshield.

  • Campus & Vehicle Rules:

    • Students are not allowed to go to their vehicles during school hours; parking lots are unauthorized areas for students.

    • All student vehicles must be parked legally within designated student parking lots only.

    • Vehicles parked improperly or in designated handicapped/visitor areas may be towed.

    • Any vehicle driven onto campus is subject to a search as authorized by a school administrator.

    • Los Lunas School District is not responsible for damage or vandalism incurred to vehicles on campus.

  • Revocation & Penalties:

    • Truancy/ditching discipline or driving unsafely on campus may result in parking privileges being revoked for the remainder of the school year.

    • Periodic permit checks are conducted. Non-compliance results in:

      • 1st Offense: Warning and school citation.

      • 2nd Offense: Discipline referral with parent or supervisor contact.

      • 3rd or Subsequent Offense: Automatic removal of the vehicle from the property at the owner's expense.

  • Drop-Off / Pick-Up & Neighboring Properties:

    • Do not park in, walk through, or be picked up in neighboring business parking lots (private property; vehicles may be towed at owner's expense).

    • Parent pickup must take place in the designated lane at the back of the school, not in front.

  • Additional Information: Full policies are available in the High School Handbook published on llschools.net.
